Designing a Legacy

The Saban Center’s design is a reflection of Nick and Terry Saban’s personal vision — a place where education, creativity, and community come together under one inspiring roof. Working alongside world-class architects at Steinberg Hart, in collaboration with renowned designer Malcolm Holzman and Davis Architecture of Alabama, the Sabans helped guide every aspect of the building’s form and function. The architecture celebrates Alabama’s natural beauty and innovative spirit, blending modern design with local materials such as Alabama marble.

Defined by its sweeping curves and a striking 70-foot glass tower, the building serves as both a landmark and a beacon for learning. At its heart is an 18-foot diameter illuminated globe — powered by the same cutting-edge technology used in The Sphere in Las Vegas — symbolizing global connectivity and endless possibility. Every detail — from the welcoming, light-filled lobby to the panoramic views of Tuscaloosa’s River District — reflects the Sabans’ belief that spaces can spark imagination, connection, and lifelong learning. The result is more than a building; it’s a legacy designed to shape Alabama’s future.
