Tuscaloosa, AL – On Wednesday, August 3, during the Nick’s Kids Foundation’s Annual Giveaway Luncheon at Bryant Denny Stadium, Nick’s Kids Foundation pledged a $1 million donation to the Saban Center.

Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox and Council President Kip Tyner were in attendance at the luncheon, which followed the council vote in support of proceeding with the design phase of the Saban Center and event center located in the river district of downtown Tuscaloosa.

The Saban Center is an innovative community partnership between the City of Tuscaloosa, the Saban family, Nick’s Kids Foundation, the Tuscaloosa Children’s Hands-On Museum and the Tuscaloosa Children’s Theatre. When completed, it will bring STEAM programs together with theater, literature, outdoor recreation and interactive learning for children and families across the region. The August 3 donation to the Saban Center from the Nick’s Kids Foundation matched the generous 2019 donation by Nick and Terry Saban.

“We are elated to be a part of this public-private partnership,” Mayor Walt Maddox said. “Thank you to the Sabans and Nick’s Kids Foundation for their generous donations to our community.” For more information about the Saban Center and event center, please visit sabancenter.org, or Elevatetuscaloosa.com.
